    The Tampin District is a district in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. The district covers 878.69 square kilometres (339.26 sq mi) and is further divided into four adat socio-political provinces ( luaks ): Tampin Adat Territory (which includes the town of Tampin ), Ayer Kuning, Gemencheh and Pasir Besar.
    Tampin is the name of a town and a district at the border of two states – Negeri Sembilan and Melaka (Tampin, 2013). Tampin Mountain, where the Titiwangsa Range – the longest mountain range in Peninsular Malaysia – begins, is in the district of Tampin.
    The Tampin District Council was established on 1 July 1980, as a result of a restructure of the state via the Local Government Act of 1976. Formerly known as the Tampin Town Board, it is a parliamentary constituency in the Dewan Rakyat of the Malaysian Parliament.
