    Coral Harbour ( Inuktitut: Salliq / Salliit, Syllabics: ᓴᓪᓕᖅ / ᓴᓪᓖᑦ, formerly Southampton Island ) is a small Inuit community that is located on Southampton Island, Kivalliq Region, in the Canadian territory of Nunavut.
    Coral Harbour, Nunavut, incorporated as a hamlet in 1972, population 891 (2016 census ), 834 (2011 census). The hamlet of Coral Harbour is located at the head of South Bay on Southampton Island in Hudson Bay, 715 km southeast of Iqaluit. The name Coral Harbour is descriptive and refers to the fossilized coral in its harbour.
    Coral Harbour, in Inuktitut Salliq meaning ‘large flat island in front of the mainland’ is located on Southampton Island at the north end of Hudson Bay. It has been a traditional meeting place for Inuit since 500 BC because of the abundance of marine life and migratory birds.
    History of Coral Harbour Coral Harbour was established in the early 20th century as a trading post for the Hudson's Bay Company. The community was incorporated as a hamlet in 1972 and has since grown into a thriving hub for Inuit culture and tourism.
