Chameleon Labs 7602 MKII. This Chinese clone aims to replicate the vibe of the 1073 preamp and EQ. It might not be dead on, but it's a great unit that punches way above its price tag. It has been built to vintage specs, with 100% discrete components and hand-wound transformers.

The Neve 1073: A truly classic design The inductor midrange EQ made the 1073 an essential studio tool due to its musical character. Also, the fixed frequency bands were selected to process a larger frequency spectrum rather than the EQs on the early Neve broadcast consoles which were geared for speech.

Launched in 1970, the 1073^® is the first choice of leading producers and artists, delivering the unique Neve^® sound on some of the most famous recordings of the past six decades. Although there have been numerous attempts to copy the 1073, ours are the only true modules on the market.

Typically, Neves have a warmer, fatter, more “retro” rock and roll sound, partly because our sense memory of that sound comes from the '70s rock and roll records that were recorded using Neve consoles. The API is a much faster and more aggressive, midrange-forward type of sound.
