History. The community was named for Hazel Barlow, daughter of founder Joe Barlow. Hazelton is a farming district with a station of the Oregon Short Line Railroad located 28 miles West of Rupert. The rich farming district is irrigated from the North Side Canal which taps the Snake River at the Milner Dam.
