Storms arriving later this evening may produce downpours, gusty wind, and cloud-to-ground lightning. We are also watching a tornado-warned storm in Knox County OH that could reach Coshocton County around 9:15 PM or 9:30 PM if it holds together. Remain alert in eastern Ohio!

Severe Thunderstorm Warning including Coshocton OH, Dresden OH and Trinway OH until 1:30 AM EDT

This is an image of radar-estimated 3 hr rain totals through 11 PM. You can see a couple stripes of 1.5 to 2.5 inch rainfall, which lead to Flash Flood Warnings being issued to the west of Coshocton County. We can't rule out similar issuance into eastern Ohio overnight.

4:05 PM radar image: while showers and a few storms are slowly working across the Laurel Highlands and other locations northeast of PGH, another round of showers and storms is approaching eastern Ohio from the southwest. Gusty wind/small hail/torrential downpours are possible.

Showers are showing a neat presentation on satellite today. Notice how the associated clouds are wavy and spread out horizontally instead of vertically. Why? A layer of warmer air aloft seen on our morning sounding is stopping the updrafts from growing above it.

The tornado-warned storm in Knox County has weakened, and unless it strengthens, a warning is not expected for Coshocton County. Over the next few hours, more storms with heavy rain and cloud-to-ground lightning will impact eastern Ohio.

Big change in the weather pattern on its way. Noticeably cooler air settles in Friday and will stick around at least through the weekend. The weather will remain unsettled. No day will be a washout, but the risk for scattered showers and possibly a thunderstorm will be present.

Local Emergency Management have reported notable damage in Frazeysburg, OH (Muskingum County) from severe thunderstorms that moved through the area early this morning (6/6/24). A NWS Pittsburgh team will conduct a preliminary storm damage survey today and provide results later.

The cell with the rotation has weakened. That has been the scenario all evening over OH. Need to focus on heavy rain as well. Rates are decreasing, but a quick inch of rain is possible under the heavier showers.

Focusing on the storm just east of Coshocton. The storm produced damage near Frazeysburg in NW Muskingum county.

We are seeing a tight rotation in this group of storms north of Zanesville Ohio. Thus we have issued a tornado warning. The entire area is moving east.

We continue to monitor the Knox County storm. It is not as impressive on radar as it was earlier. On its current northeast track, if it holds together, it may clip the NW corner of Coshocton County, or even miss the county completely. Stay tuned...

Knox County OH tornadic storm (this is reflectivity view from Columbus TDWR) continues to move slowly eastward - could reach the Coshocton border between 9:45 PM and 10 PM. We are continuing to monitor.
