    The name Kalajoki translates to Fish River. Kalajoki is one of those very few municipalities in Finland that lacks any natural lakes. On the other hand, five rivers flow into the sea within the municipal borders. Buses between Kokkola and Oulu stop in both in Kalajoki centre and at Hiekkasärkät.
    With so much to explore, Kalajoki is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday. From breathtaking views of the Gulf of Bothnia to picturesque forests, Kalajoki has something for everyone. This small town is known for its vibrant culture, rich history and unique attractions.
    If travelling from Finland, the best way to reach Kalajoki is by car. The journey takes approximately five hours from Helsinki, and the route follows the E4 and E8 motorways. Alternatively, there is a direct train from Tampere to Kalajoki, which takes approximately four and a half hours.
