Gujarati script is an abugida i.e. write from left to right. It is used to write the Gujarati and Kutchi languages. The Gujarati script is very similar to Devanagari but without the line at the top of the letters. The first grammar of a precursor of Gujarati was written in the 12th century.

1. Start any Office application, including WordPad or Notepad. 2. Click the Language Indicator located in the System Tray on the right side of the Windows taskbar or on Language bar as shown below and select GU-Gujarati.

Press (Ctrl+G) to switch between English and Gujarati. Use the backspace or click on any words to get more choices on a drop-down menu. Once you have finished typing, email it to your friends and family. Simply copy and paste to post content on Facebook, Twitter, or format it on a text editor such as Word Document.

To represent other non-initial vowels, diacritic vowel signs are added before, after, above or below a consonant. The Gujarati alphabet consists of 47 letters ordered according to phonetic principles (below each one the standard transliteration is shown followed by its International Phonetic Alphabet equivalent).
