The Brook was probably named after Lt. Henry Bull who took up land in the area in 1831. Gazetted as Kingsford in 1936, the name was changed to Bullsbrook in 1939 to avoid confusion with Kingsford in NSW. The air base was established in 1939 but the military had been using land in the area since 1935.
