Cthulhu is Real. If you aren’t familiar with the name Cthulhu, it belongs to a fictional cosmic entity created by the horror fiction writer H. P. Lovecraft. Lovecraft wrote many stories taking place in a dark universe inhabited by Great Old Ones, a group of powerful godlike beings from space, of which Cthulhu was a part of.
It's metaphorical & Real at the same time. Cthulhu is a representation as well as a possible real entity that should be heeded. We have quite a few individuals here with differing views on Cthulhu & the Mythos. All are welcome. Where would you fit?
What is the purpose of Cthulhu? What is Cthulhu’s purpose? The original purpose was to express and personify the fear of the author, H.P. Lovecraft in a story. Lovecraft’s mother and father were both institutionalized and Lovecraft himself had a fear of going insane. This is a recurrent theme in his work.
The reason for Cthulhu specifically is probably because it was one of the very few beings lovecraft not only described rather thoroughly through it's idols, but also drew in one of his letters.
