    Hudson, New York, is located on the east side of the Hudson River in Columbia County, 120 miles north of New York City, 45 miles south of Albany and 160 miles west of Boston. The city is surrounded by the town of Greenport to the north, east and south, and by the Hudson River to the west. , take the Ancram/Hudson exit to Route 82.

    Just a little about us. The City of Hudson Department of Fire is the oldest active volunteer fire department in New York State. Organized in 1794 with the chartering of J. W.     Hudson was chartered as a city in 1785. The self-described "Proprietors" laid out a city grid. By 1786, the city had several fine wharves, warehouses, a spermaceti-works and fifteen hundred residents. In 1794 John Alsop, of the New York City shipping and commission agents Alsop & Hicks, relocated to Hudson for a brief time.
