Otter Tail County boasts many miles of scenic highways, rolling hills , and is home to two Minnesota State Parks ( Glendalough and Maplewood) as well as Phelps Mill County Park.
    Ottertail is a city in Otter Tail County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 629 at the 2020 census. Ottertail was platted in 1903, and named for nearby Otter Tail Lake. "Otter Tail" City appeared on the United States Census as early as 1860.
    In the Minnesota House of Representatives, Otter Tail County is divided into two districts, 8A and 8B. They are represented by Republicans Bud Nornes (8A) and Mary Franson (8B). Districts 8A and 8B make up Minnesota State Senate district 8, which is represented by Republican State Senator Bill Ingebrigtsen.
    In 1865 the first and one of the most interesting settlements in Otter Tail County was made near Clitherall Lake, in what would eventually become Clitherall Township. By the late 1800's wheat was the king of crops and in such demand that nearly 1,000 mills were operating throughout the state.
