    There are four New Hampshire State Routes within Hollis. NH 111 cross the extreme southeastern corner of the town, connecting to Pepperell, Massachusetts, in the south and Nashua in the east. It is known locally as Runnells Bridge Road. NH 111A starts at NH 111 and goes east into Nashua. It is known locally as Groton Road.
    Hollis is a town in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, United States. The population was 8,342 at the 2020 census, having grown 9% from the 2010 population of 7,684.
    By 1731, Peter, his wife Anna Keyes, and their two infant sons, Peter and Stephen, had settled in area that was to be called Hollis. In 1746, Hollis received its charter from the Royal Governor of New Hampshire, Benning Wentworth, and established the town government.
    How the town of Hollis got it's name. Dunstable, Holles, Merrimack and Monson by order of the Royal Governor, Benning Wentworth. The Secretary of State for the Colonies at that time was the Duke of Newcastle, and his family name was Holles. It was usual for the Governor to name towns chartered by him in honor of his friends and patrons.
