    Louis Brennan CB (28 January 1852 – 17 January 1932) was an Irish-Australian mechanical engineer and inventor . Brennan was born in Castlebar, Ireland, and moved to Melbourne, Australia, in 1861 with his parents.
    However, aged nine years or so Louis Brennan would leave behind Castlebar: as the family emigrated to Melbourne, Australia. The tragic deaths of five of Louis’s siblings at a young age may have been one of the reasons for their leaving, while an unsuccessful and expensive court case over a right of way with a neighbour may also have been a factor.
    While on holiday in Montreux, Switzerland, Louis Brennan was knocked down by a car on 26th December 1931, and died as a result of the injuries received on 17th January 1932 in Montreux. He was buried in plot. No 2454, St.Mary's cemetery, Harrow Road London N.W. 10 on 26th January 1932.
    Louis Brennan now set his mind upon inventing a train which ran on one rail. Today the Monorail system is becoming popular again in answer to modern traffic congestion. The invention was to be a success but because it lacked financial backing it never became popular as a means of transport. In 1907 he was ready to exhibit his first model.
