Bakersfield, nicknamed "Nashville West," is well-known for its contributions to country music and is home to several recording artists, including Merle Haggard and Buck Owens. Although considered to be a medium-sized city in the US, Bakersfield is fast-growing. When in the city, an excellent place to visit is the Bakersfield Music Hall of Fame, recording studio, and concert venue. Downtown has developed an art area, and there are several dining options.
