Howrah (/ˈhaʊrə/, Bengali: [ˈɦao̯ɽa], alternatively pronounced as Haora) is a city in the Indian state of West Bengal. Howrah is located on the western bank of the Hooghly River, opposite its twin city of Kolkata.
