In the US, a jumper is a sleeveless dress you layer over a blouse. In the UK a jumper is what Americans call a sweater. A sweater is what Americans call a heavy knitted top. A sweatshirt is a fleece or french terry pullover top, usually worn as athletic wear, hence the name “Sweatshirt”.
