55 years ago today, the Apollo 11 rocket crawled along the three-and-a-half-mile journey to Launch Pad 39A. The 363-foot-high space vehicle later launched Apollo 11 astronauts Neil A. Armstrong, Michael Collins and Edwin E. Aldrin Jr. on the first crewed lunar landing mission.

Amid the lights from the fixed and rotating service structures, space shuttle Discovery rests at Launch Pad 39B after completing the 4.2-mile journey from the Vehicle Assembly Building. The rollout was #OTD in 2006 in preparation for the STS-121 mission launch to @Space_Station.

Head in the clouds ☁️ Space shuttle Endeavour launched from Launch Pad 39A for the 25th and final time #OTD in 2011 for the agency's STS-134 mission. STS-134 delivered the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer-2 and other parts to @Space_Station, landing on June 1 after a 15-day mission.
