Zapopan (Spanish pronunciation: [saˈpopan]) is a city and municipality located in the Mexican state of Jalisco. Part of the Guadalajara Metropolitan Area, the population of Zapopan city proper makes it the second largest city in the state, very close behind the population of Guadalajara proper.

Zapopan, along with Guadalajara, is known as the home of the Mariachi, traditional Mexican music. Other cultural institutions feature works from folk traditions, Ballet Folklorico, and Charreadas, the national sport very similar to the rodeo.

Zapopan is the only municipality in Mexico and the second city in the world to sign an agreement of this kind with Mass Challenge. Zapopan became the first municipality, at international level, to sign an agreement of this nature with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).
