    Here are some stats on Khao Yai National Park to put things into perspective: The park covers an area of 2,168 km², which is about three times the size of Singapore. Elevation ranges from 400-1,000 meters mostly. The name Khao Yai actually means “Big Mountain” in Thai. Khao Rom is the highest mountain in the park, at 1,351 meters.
    Hiking in Khao Yai is another attraction of the national park. There are five main hiking trails to choose from at Khao Yai, depending on your experience, endurance levels, and length of time you have at the park. The nature trails start from 1 km (0.6 mile) and the hiking trails can take between 1½ hours to a whole day to complete.
    Khao Yai is part of the Dong Phayayen-Khao Yai Forest Complex; a World Heritage Site declared by UNESCO, covering 5 protected areas from Khao Yai to Cambodian border. The other protected areas are; Pang Sida National Park, Thap Lan National Park, Ta Phraya National Park and Dong Yai Wildlife Sanctuary.
