Nevşehir was a township under Niğde Sanjak in the last period of the Ottomans. After the proclamation of the republic, Niğde emerged as a province in the new administrative structure, while Nevşehir became one of its districts. With the law numbered 6429, Nevşehir was turned into province on 20 July 1954.
Nevşehir is a city in the Central Anatolia Region of Turkey. It is the seat of Nevşehir Province and Nevşehir District. Its population is 123,882 (2022).
