A drone flight over the Bogachiel River near Forks, Washington in June 2022. The Bogachiel River begins in several headwater streams near Bogachiel Peak deep in the Olympic Mountains, in the northwest part of the Olympic Peninsula.
The Bogachiel Trail, beginning a few miles outside the park, follows the Bogachiel River to the North Fork Bogachiel, then follows that river valley up to the High Divide, connecting to other trails that lead north to the Sol Duc River valley and south to the Hoh River valley.
Bogachiel Peak is a 5,478-foot (1,670 m) peak in the Olympic Mountains of Washington, U.S.. It is located in Olympic National Park, and is a high point on the High Divide separating the Hoh River and Sol Duc River valleys, and forming the southern rim of Seven Lakes Basin. The peak is situated at the headwaters of the Bogachiel River.
Photo by Wes Partch. The Bogachiel River is a classic example of a lowland rainforest ecosystem, with a rough and tumble trail that extends all the way to the head of the valley. Born on lower mountains than the Hoh, Queets, and Quinault, it lacks the glacial coloration and tremendous flow associated with those valleys.
