Dianne O'Brien (known as Auntie Di) is currently the Chairperson of Mingaletta Corporation, an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community hub. In 2017, she was named 'NSW Grandparent of the Year'. She has held many senior positions in government organisations and has also worked in legal services and as a drug and alcohol counsellor.

Auntie Diane O’Brien grew up feeling she didn’t belong in her family, yet not knowing that she was Aboriginal and adopted. When she was 14 her adoptive mother died, relations with her father deteriorated, she was raped resulting in pregnancy, was sent to Parramatta Girls’ Home and chose to marry the father of the baby rather than lose her child.

Diane O’Brien had an opportunity to be interim Mayor in Prince Edward County, and she would like to make it full time. She held the position while Robert Quaiff was running to become the MPP for the Bay of Quinte riding. O’Brien is a current city councillor in The County, and she believes they can do things better.
