Ariel A mermaid and King Triton's youngest daughter. She is obsessed with everything about the human world, and dreams of becoming a part of life above the water. Hardheaded, naive, and emotional, but also kind hearted.

Ariel is a young mermaid, which means she can breath both air or water, and swim superhumanly fast with her fish tail. Physically, she is very similar to your average 16 year old. As a princess, she’s professionally trained in music and performance. She is endowed with a beautiful singing voice.

In The Little Mermaid, she is depicted as being willing to do anything to be with Prince Eric, even giving up her voice to become human. Clements described her as a typical teenager, prone to errors of judgment. She also is incredibly curious, and her curiosity often leads her into dangerous situations.

Personality… curious, spunky, and strong-willed. Once Ariel decides she wants something, she's determined to get it, no matter what her father may say. But for all her teenage rebellion, Ariel has a good heart. She may cause headaches for her father like any headstrong 16-year-old, but she won't hesitate to help anyone in trouble.
