Jūrmala is home to one of the largest heritage sites of historical wooden architecture in Latvia - 103 architectural monuments of national significance and 295 of local significance, which are worth admiring during the walk.

Jūrmala's swimming culture is centuries old, although it has changed over the years and bent to each era's style and habits. Today, Jūrmala's 24-kilometre-long beach has 11 established swimming areas.

Jūrmala, the Riga's Seaside (1870-1918) Jūrmala was a string of fishing villages well into 19th century. While some people would come here from Riga already in the 18th century, 25 km distance was too big for regular traffic in the era of horses and carriages. Steam trains arrive at Edinburgh station (now Dzintari).
