    Plzeň (Czech pronunciation: [ˈpll.zɛɲ]), also called Pilsen in English and German, is the most important city of West Bohemia in the Czech Republic. The City of Pilsen was founded in 1295 by King Wenceslaus II of Bohemia, who gave to 260 Pilsner citizens the right to brew the beer.
    It is the fourth largest City in the Czech Republic and thanks to the good location Plzeň also can serve as your base for exploring places like Prague, Český Krumlov, Šumava mountains and spa towns Karlovy Vary and Mariánské Lázně. Most of Pilsen tourist attractions are located within one area of Pilsen City Center.
    It is the home and birthplace of the Pilsener (or pilsner) beer variety which is derived from the city's name. It is the 4th largest city in the country and the largest city in West Bohemia, and is a convenient base for exploring this region of the Czech Republic. The city is well connected with both buses and trains leaving hourly from Prague.
